Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A person was attacked with a sword in a dispute between two neighbors in the Mangalkot area of East Burdwan district. Local people admitted the injured person to Katwa Hospital. The victim's stomach, arm, and shoulder were attacked with a sword. Police have recovered swords from the spot. Police have started searching for the accused. The injured has been identified as SM Milton.
According to the victim's family, in the year 1942, a neighbor sold land to Milton's family and went to Bangladesh. In the year 2008, some members of his family returned to India and demanded land, due to which there was tension between the two sides. The people of the area repeatedly offered to return some land to the family who came from Bangladesh and got the settlement done.
It is alleged that on Tuesday evening, the other party attacked SM Milton with a sword near his house. When his family and local people came out after hearing his screams, the accused also beat them up. Police are investigating the incident.
SM Milton said that there was an argument over land in the evening. "In the evening one of them beat me at home. Then he grabbed my hands and attacked me with a sword. When people came running after hearing my screams, they ran away", he said.
